Knowledge Economics

We are located on every continent and our aim is to provide a platform to develop and help a global community of students, professional practitioners, consultants, coaches and mentors, associates and organisations, who are all actively interested in the  same shared vision for the Global Knowledge Economy, connect with international teachers, peers, discuss, learn and collaborate together.

At Knowledge Associates, over the past 50 years and increasingly today, we are seeing the transition to an advanced and digitally driven  Agricultural and Industrial Economy and to an advanced Global Knowledge Economy  that is driven by knowledge services, skilled virtual knowledge working individuals and teams, innovative technology, artificial intelligence etc. We see human and machine intelligence working together to enhance capability.

Knowledge has become the key factor of production and the key asset for many knowledge driven organisations. Knowledge is increasing in value in all dimensions. Knowledge will be the key creator of value and wealth for the 21st Century.

Knowledge Politics

But unlike traditional agricultural and industrial economics that are based on the distinctive ownership of land and physical labour,  financial capital, factories and physical capital, the new advanced knowledge economics will be based on a new form of capitalism for individuals, who build, own and offer their personal  knowledge capital, and based on organisations, that contract to use personal knowledge capital to improve organisational knowledge capital, and at the same time, provide individuals with the opportunity to learn and further develop their personal knowledge capital from collective individual and organisational knowledge capital. Knowledge contracts will be 'win / win' contracts, linked to both the organisations vision and objectives and the individuals vision  and learning objectives, of equitable knowledge capital based on knowledge competencies for all. The key change that is taking place is the paradigm shift from 'human resources as costs' to people as sources of valuable knowledge capital providing increased organisational capacity.

Knowledge Competencies

Successful individuals, teams, organisations and global communities will demonstrate and teach these new and much better ways to create, transfer and apply knowledge and manage their critical knowledge assets wisely. So, the first priority of the Global Knowledge Associates Community is to help it members develop these critical knowledge skills and credentials, where needed, through the Knowledge Associates Cambridge Academy (physical and online). Today, it is not just about learning content but learning the best ways to accelerate the learning process 'learn how to best learn' and advanced thinking. By attracting  and including students and knowledge professionals, working with elder experienced coaches and mentors on the knowledge platform, we will be able to better harness and leverage the world's knowledge to, both solve major problems, and to grasp major opportunities to develop and grow.

Knowledge Working

The Global Knowledge Economy may be best considered as a paradigm shift 'from capital to knowledge capital', and we can best consider knowledge work as the 'leveraging of knowledge capital' in all dimensions in our practical daily work.  This requires, at least, effective information and communication management, collaboration and co-creation, learning and quality knowledge management, co-creation and innovation management, and integrated knowledge asset management.

Knowledge Asset Management

The realisation of knowledge as a key asset, and that there are also key knowledge assets to create, transfer, retain, apply and build organisational knowledge capital, is knowledge asset management, a more holistic, multidisciplinary  and integrated approach to management in a more knowledge driven organisation. New knowledge accounting and new knowledge asset reporting and measurement systems, supported by international standards, are emerging in leading organisations today.

Knowledge Futures

We expect, at least,  the next 10 years will continue to be turbulent, with much disruption and change, especially in employment, innovative processes, automation, and human and digital transformation, but we also see many opportunities to leverage these new and extraordinary ways to create new knowledge assets and exploit extraordinary opportunities.

So the second priority of the Global Knowledge Associates Community is to be aware of, and in front of, these extraordinary developments. The Knowledge Associates Cambridge Academy will teach new visions, values, strategies, methods and tools that aim to turn knowledge principles into daily reality.

At Knowledge Associates, we strive to see a better world that can better address the UN Sustainable Development Goals (2030 Agenda) for humanity, through creating and applying the best knowledge  co-creating and innovating  as fast as possible, and also believe that the world has a great opportunity to better leverage the collective knowledge available for growth and prosperity.

We strive to help young and hopeful people who wish to be empowered but are not given the opportunity to learn critical 21st Century digital and knowledge skills, knowledge professionals who seek more empowerment in their careers, elders who are willing to share their knowledge, experience and wisdom with others, and knowledge driven organisations and communities seeking world class competencies and business excellence.
